Aircast Shoulder Cryo Cuff
Aircast Shoulder Cryo Cuff
Combines the therapeutic benefits of controlled cold compression to minimise haemarthrosis, swelling and reduces pain.
After a knock, bang, tear, minor or major surgery the Aircast Cryo Cuff for the shoulder is the ideal rehabilitation tool. The cuff is anatomically designed to completely fit the shoulder providing maximum coverage of the whole joint and allowing the whole surface area to have the continual cooling benefit of cryotherapy.
After an injury, blood vessels are damaged, allowing blood cells and fluid to seep into spaces around the joint, resulting in swelling and bruising. When ice is applied the temperature decreases and constricts local blood vessels, slowing metabolism and decreasing fluid build-up, ice can also numb nerve endings, reducing the transfer of impulses to the brain that register as pain.
The cuff needs to be attached to the Aircast Cryo/Cuff Cooler and will hold water and ice needed for six to eight hours of cryotherapy. The durable cooler comes with a tube assembly and insulation disk and simple-to-follow directions for use.
Please note that this item cannot be returned for a refund once used with water. Please check the size of the cuff before filling it with water.
The cuff does not provide tight or adjustable compression; it will feel slightly more snug when filled with water, but it is not designed to give a tight-to-loose compression effect. The temperature of the water inside the cuff is not actively controlled by either the cuff or the cooler. Both components are insulated to slow the natural warming of the water. If the ambient room temperature is high, the water in the cuff may warm more quickly. Once the water has lost its cooling effect, it needs to be manually recirculated through the cooler to allow fresher, cooler water to flow into the cuff. Please note: this applies to the gravity-fed cooler only, as the powered cooler actively circulates the water.
